Dragonball FighterZ is kind of a big deal.
What most people don’t realize is, this isn’t just another 3D fighter like Budokai, Xenoverse and the other Dragonball fighters of the past.
When you have Arc System Works, who have a deep portfolio of fighters including Guilty Gear and Blazblue, it’s pretty much a no brainer. Instant buy.
So, when I got word of a launch tournament at the snazzy, Sydney-based Microsoft Store, with an Xbox One up for grabs? Again, no brainer.
Check out the huge display outside of the store. 😀
Plenty of casual play stations for those looking to warm up for the tournament or if you’ve come along to try before you buy.
The tournament format (FT1 double elimination) was a bit disappointing for those used to FT2+ standards, but understandable because of the large amount of entrants / time constraints.
Fortunately for those knocked into specatator mode, there were plenty of activities for a second chance at prizes.
AnimeLab hooked it up, with a little Dragonball Super viewing if DBFZ wasn’t enough.
The event made for a long day following Friday’s Australia Day shenanigans. Definitely needed some eats to “freshen” up.
Oh, I forgot to mention… I won. Hah. 😛
Enjoy the remainder of the photos from the event here!
Until next time…
